Gulf Exchange is licensed and regulated by Qatar Central Bank, which means we are required to verify identity before any transaction, whatever the amount. Bringing the right document makes your visit quick.
What to bring
All identification must be valid, and original documents must be presented — a photograph or photocopy cannot be accepted.
- Residents of Qatar: your Qatar ID
- Qatari nationals: Qatar ID or passport
- GCC nationals: national ID or passport
- Non-residents: passport and visa
Why we ask
Identity verification is part of our Know Your Customer obligations under Qatar Central Bank instructions and Law No. (20) of 2019 on Combating Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing. It applies to everyone, including long-standing customers, and to transactions of any size.

If you are sending money
As well as your own identification, bring the full name of the person receiving the money exactly as it appears on their own identification. A name that does not match is the most common reason a transfer is delayed or returned.
You will also need their bank account details for a bank transfer, their registered mobile number for a mobile wallet, or the city where they will collect for cash pick-up.
