Sending money at Gulf Exchange takes one visit to a branch, or a few minutes in the app once you are registered. Here is what happens and what to prepare.

Choose how the money arrives

There are three ways to send, and which suits you depends on how the person receiving it prefers to be paid.

  • Bank transfer — paid straight into a bank account. The most common choice for regular transfers home, and available across the widest set of countries.
  • Cash pick-up — collected in cash from a partner counter using a reference number. Useful where the person receiving the money has no bank account.
  • Mobile wallet — paid directly into a mobile money account. Available in a smaller set of countries, and growing.

What to bring

  • Your Qatar ID or passport, original, not a copy
  • The full name of the person receiving the money, as it appears on their identification
  • Their bank details, mobile number or collection city, depending on the method

Before you leave the counter

Check the details on the voucher before you sign: the amount, the currency, and the name of the person receiving the money. Once you have signed and left the branch, corrections become much harder.

Always take your original transaction voucher with the counter staff signature. You will need it if you ever want to cancel or trace the transfer.

Tracking your transfer

Every transfer has a reference number. Bring your receipt to any branch, or call Customer Care on +974 4438 3222, and our team can tell you where it is.

If something is wrong

Contact us as soon as possible with your reference number. If the transfer has not yet been paid out it can usually be stopped or corrected. Cancellations are processed at the same branch where the transaction was made, and you will need valid identification and the original receipt.
